Ashika-Con Cosplay Dress Code & Guidelines

Ashika-Con is an all-ages, family-friendly convention. All costumes must be appropriate for a public setting and suitable for attendees of all ages.

Content & Decency Standards

  • Costumes must provide adequate coverage for all genders, comparable to at least a modest swimsuit (private areas, including breasts and buttocks, must be covered).

  • Nudity, excessive skin exposure, or sheer materials that reveal private areas are not permitted.

  • Clothing or costumes depicting profanity, hate speech, or sexually explicit or graphic imagery—including ahegao-style designs—are strictly prohibited.

  • As a general guideline, costumes should be PG-13 or below and appropriate to wear around children.

  • If a costume is deemed too revealing, attendees may be asked to add layers such as bodysuits, shorts, or other coverage in order to remain on the show floor.

Footwear Requirement

  • Shoes or appropriate footwear must be worn at all times for safety within the venue.

Uniforms & Real-World Authority

  • Costumes that resemble real-world military, law enforcement, or government agency uniforms are not permitted.

  • Fictional or clearly fantastical uniforms are allowed, provided they cannot reasonably be mistaken for real or current uniforms.

Costume Size, Mobility & Safety

  • Costumes must be able to fit through a standard doorway (36” wide) to comply with fire safety regulations.

  • Large, bulky, or elaborate costumes (including wings or oversized props) must be manageable and not pose a risk to others.

  • Costumes may not have sharp, rigid, or exposed edges that could cause injury.

  • If a costume restricts vision, movement, or ventilation, the cosplayer is strongly encouraged to have a handler to assist them while navigating the convention.

Audio, Effects & Sensory Restrictions

  • Costumes and props may not produce smoke, fog, strong odors, or similar effects.

  • Costumes with speakers are permitted only if audio is kept at a reasonable volume and is not continuous (no looping music, alarms, or disruptive sounds).

Final Notes

Ashika-Con staff reserve the right to request modifications to any costume or restrict access if a costume does not meet these guidelines. Our goal is to maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all attendees.

Thank you for helping keep Ashika-Con fun and inclusive for everyone!
