Harassment Policy

Ashika-Con is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all staff, volunteers, guests, and attendees. Harassment of any kind — including physical, verbal, or sexual harassment — will not be tolerated.

 

Discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, disability, sex, criminal history, marital status, gender identity, or sexual orientation is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this policy may result in removal from the event and loss of future participation privileges at Ashika-Con.

 

We expect all members of our community to treat one another with dignity, kindness, and respect.

Ashika-Con Weapons & Prop Policy

For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, real weapons are strictly prohibited at Ashika-Con.

 

Prohibited Items Include (but are not limited to):

  • Firearms of any kind (real, replica, or decommissioned)

  • Ammunition or live rounds

  • Tasers, stun guns, or pepper spray

  • Metal or live-steel blades

  • Functional projectile weapons, including bows, airsoft guns, BB guns, paintball markers, slingshots, and similar items

For the safety and comfort of all attendees, all bags and props are subject to inspection upon entry.

 

Functional weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: real swords, knives, blades, scissors, bats, firearms, cap guns, gel blasters, and airsoft guns.

 

Approved prop materials include foam, rubber, cardboard, plastic, papier-mâché, and other lightweight materials.

 

Wooden props may be permitted but are subject to review by security. Wooden bats are not allowed. All wooden props must be free of pointed or sharp ends.

 

Prop firearms that resemble real firearms must feature a clearly visible, brightly colored safety tip.

 

Costumes displaying hate symbols or imagery associated with hate groups are not permitted.

 

All bladed prop weapons must be fully blunt. Live steel or metal blades are not allowed anywhere on convention grounds.

Bows must have low string tension and must not be capable of firing any projectile.

 

Replica metal or bladed weapons purchased from vendors at the event must remain securely boxed at all times. Unboxing or handling replica weapons on the convention floor is strictly prohibited.

Prop Inspection & Peace-Bonding

  • All props must be inspected and peace-bonded before entry.

  • Visit the Weapons Check Desk near Registration upon arrival.

  • Approved props will receive a colored tag or zip tie, which must remain attached for the duration of the event.

  • Any prop without proper tagging may be removed or held by staff.

No Active Effects

Props may not:

  • Fire projectiles

  • Emit smoke, sparks, flashes, or flames

  • Produce loud or disruptive sounds

The following are not permitted:

  • Lasers

  • Pyrotechnics

  • CO₂ or compressed air devices

Approved Prop Materials

  • Foam, rubber, plastic, resin, and cardboard are acceptable

  • Wood props may be approved only if edges are dull and the item is not reinforced with metal

  • Full metal props are not permitted under any circumstances

Bows & Arrows

  • Bows must be unstrung or strung with a non-tension cord

  • Arrows must have soft foam or rubber tips only

Replica Firearms

  • Must have a clearly visible orange tip or painted muzzle

  • Triggers must be disabled

  • No working magazines or internal firing mechanisms

Whips, Chains & Flexible Props

  • Must be made from soft, lightweight materials such as foam, rope, or fabric

  • Metal chains, weighted ends, or rigid components are not allowed

Ashika-Con staff reserve the right to deny entry or remove any prop that does not meet safety standards. Thank you for helping keep Ashika-Con safe and fun for everyone!

Behavior & Enforcement
Do not swing, brandish, or point props at anyone.

Unsafe or aggressive behavior will result in removal.

Staff and security have final authority on what is and isn’t allowed inside the venue.
